Holy Avtar Vani - Shabad No. 53
Nirankar ton munkar jehrhe bande nahin oh kafar ne;
Patthar wangun bhar dharat te barhe nikmme vafar ne.
Naam hari ton khali jeharhe bande gande mande ne;
Ohnan de lai jagah jagah te laye maut ne fande ne.
Janam akarath bilkul jekar rab chete din rat nahin;
Suk jandi ey jeevan kheti je mehran di barsat nahin.
Bhatthi pa de kam duniyan da jis vich rab da nam nahin;
Pa de bhatthi shoom di daulat jis ton kujh aaram nahin.
Man vich jis de naam hai vasya us di mahima sari ey;
Avtar mera dil vare vare jaan meri balihari ey.
Meaning
Those who deny the existence of the Formless are not human beings but atheists; like boulders, they are a burden on the earth and they are totally worthless and undesirable. Those who are devoid of Divine Name are foul and unchaste; and for them death has laid traps all around. This human birth is a sheer waste, if one does not remember and realize the presence of God day and night; the harvest of human life dries up if there are no showers of divine grace. Cast aside the worldly pursuits, if they are devoid of God’s name. Cast aside the miserly wealth which does not fetch any comfort. That person is glorified in whose heart God dwells. Avtar says I sacrifice my heart and soul unto him.
